About The Contest

Share Your Inspired Story of Hope and Courage…through Song!

Be part of the inaugural Music Doing Good songwriting contest around the theme of hope and courage! Entries can be submitted in mp3 format from November 1 to December 1, 2013. The winning songwriter will perform their song live, on-stage at Anderson Fair on Friday and Saturday, January 17 and 18, 2014. Connie Mims was the first woman to be awarded the "Singer/Songwriter of the Year" award by the Academy of Texas Music. She teaches songwriting for the Grammy Career Day and the Kerrville Folk Festival.

Sarah Golden has achieved success both within Texas and on the national stage. Perhaps best well known as one of the top vocalists on Season 2 of NBC's "The Voice," Golden finished in the top 48 vocalists in the nation and worked with Cee Lo Green. She has also been nominated for Best Folk Artist in Houston as well as a top-ten finalist in the Kerville Folk Festival's New-Folk competition.
