Earlier this month, Carver High School’s choral groups presented their Fall Concert. In total, three ensembles performed; The Treble Choir, The Men’s Ensemble and the Varsity Mixed Chorus. Music Doing Good in Service program director, Phillip Hall, provided piano accompaniment for several of the pieces. The students performed a cappella pieces, as well. Under the direction of Ms. Kenyatta Herring, the Carver Choir has grown to nearly 50 regularly performing students!
Last weekend, six Carver choir students went to Atascocita High School to compete in region choir auditions. Carver placed six students in two different choirs! Four out of the six students will continue to compete for All-State Choir and we will be cheering them on.
Each student had a blind audition, singing excerpts from three different pieces. Their performances and delivery were scored and ranked by five judges. They were competing against 35 to 40 other students. “I’m proud to announce, the following students have advanced in the first round of Region Choir UIL competition and will perform on November 10th at Dekaney High School. They will also compete again on November 29th at pre-area auditions. Congratulations to the two men’s chorus participants, Gustavo and Alejandro, and four mixed chorus students, Skylar, Joshua, Demiah and Jocelyn,” remarks Mr. Hall.
A small contingent of the Carver High School Choir are being asked to perform for an upcoming Music Doing Good fundraising concert to be held on December 6th at Kawai Piano Gallery. We are so excited for our patrons and friends to experience the incredible talent of the students we serve. Get your tickets now by clicking HERE.
