We are so proud of our students who participated in the UIL competition last weekend. Their “Sweepstakes” status is music to our ears!
Under the direction of their instructor Ms. Kenyatta Herring, the Carver Treble and Mixed Choirs garnered “sweepstakes” awards in their UIL performances at Summer Creek High School. Music Doing in Service director Phillip Hall provided piano accompaniment.
All participants must perform three pieces onstage and then sight read in another room for additional adjudicators. The Treble Chorus performed “Romance”, “There Will Come Soft Rain” and “Lineage.” The Mixed Chorus presented “Muie Rendera”, “El Vito” and “Elijah Rock”. Both the concert and sight reading components received “superior” ratings, which resulted in “sweepstakes” status!
This marks consecutive years that Carver has achieved the highest standard! Congratulations to Ms. Herring, her students and Mr. Hall!
Scholarship recipient and Music Doing Good in Schools participant, Douglas Mills, also competed last weekend at UIL with his fellow choir mates from Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. They, too received a “sweepstakes” status and quite a nice complement from the judge.
Congratulations to all of our students. Music Doing Good is so proud of each and every one of YOU!
